Artists book in for comic store's signing

TWO Cardiff-based comic book artists helped celebrate the birthday of a city store.

Chris Lynch and Stuart Tipples, the creators of Monkeys with Machineguns, were signing copies of their work at the Comic Guru, in the Wyndham Arcade, Cardiff, in advance of its fourth anniversary tomorrow.

Owner Kristian Barry, 36, said interest in BBC Wales shows such as Doctor Who and Torchwood have seen interest in science fiction rise. He said: "We now get people from all over the country coming in and asking about the series."

Welsh agency model takes glamour crown

A SOUTH Wales model agency is celebrating after one of its models won the Miss Great Britain crown.

Cardiff-based Face Model Management popped the corks at the Grosvenor Hotel, London when Rachel Tennent won the title.

Kirstie Howells, managing director of Face Model Agency, said: "I'm really happy that one of my models has had such an amazing achievement."


Rachel, 25, from Aberdeen, who has been signed to the agency for just under a year said: "All my dreams have come true."

Terry signs deal for next stage of career

A RETIRED rapper who turned his talents to a new career as a novelist has just signed a publishing deal.

Terry Cooper was a founding member of the 1990s Cardiff-based rapgroup Best Shot Posse which split in 1995 after touring the UK and playing at the Wembley Arena.

But Doctor Who fan, Terry, 37, from Pontypridd, said: "I dreamed of a major record deal and it came true. Once it ended, I didn't know where to go and what to do." Terry's book, Kangazang! is a science fiction comedy.
